Amanda Nicholson and Neil Faint of Texas Star Quarter Horses in Tamworth, New South Wales, are well recognised as two of Australia's leading producers of high quality performance horses.
Establishing Texas Star Quarter Horses singlehandedly in 2008, Amanda aspired to produce performance horses that would excel in the disciplines of Campdrafting and Cutting. Her proven approach to breeding is founded upon a firm understanding of elite Quarter Horse genetics, strengthened by her years of experience and certificate in artificial insemination.
Since meeting at Dungowan Campdraft in September 2010, ACA and ABCRA Open Campdraft judge and accomplished breeder, trainer and Campdraft rider, Neil has brought his capabilities in fine equine breeding and his selection of winning Australian Stock Horses to extend the breeding stock on offer at their pristine stud in Campdrafting country, Tamworth.
With four leading performance horse sires, Duckrey, Yulgilbar Hank Man Chex, QP Clover Doc and Wattleridge Doughty, standing at stud, Texas Star Quarter Horses continue to produce Quarter and Australian Stock Horses that showcase exceptional breeding and an ability to perform in the Campdrafting and Cutting arenas. They embody Amanda and Neil's commitment to breeding excellence; horses that are 'Bred to Perform'.
Amanda and Neil's continued investment in outstanding genetics to produce supreme progeny for their breeding clients has earned them a reputation as respected breeders and many returning customers. Two young performance horses of mention are 2009 drop progeny, Texas Star Commanchie Quixote and Texas Star Majestic Chex, both of which were sold as yearlings at the 2010 Landmark Yearling and Broodmare Sale in Toowoomba, Queensland.
At home, Amanda and Neil pride themselves on maintaining a high standard breeding property located along the New England Highway, just minutes from the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre. Texas Star Quarter Horses is situated on approximately 132 acres of flat and undulating country. Facilities include stables, vet crush, horse walker and a mechanical cow. More than 50 horses graze in the serene paddocks surrounding their home.
Looking to the future, Amanda and Neil are also passionate about creating a safer and more enjoyable Campdrafting experience for young and beginner competitors. Neil now hosts regular Campdrafting and Horsemanship clinics throughout New South Wales and interstate. Follow Texas Star Quarter Horses on Facebook for updates.
